About Us Herds Crops Farm Shop Produce Map Holidays
The Pig Herd is predominantly outdoors, free range. All the sows stay outside on the grass. The piglets are weaned into huts outside, which are then moved out to stubble where they can roam. The nearly pork weight pigs come into straw yards which are spacious, well ventilated and light.

The breeding herds are mainly Wessex Saddleback cross Landrace sows. These are put to a large white boar. We use Saddleback for the mothering ability, Landrace for leanness and large white for added growth. There is no tail docking, teeth clipping, or nose ringing.

The Pig Herd
The Beef Herd The Beef Herd is supplied with calves from local farms such as Sindles Farm, Aldsworth and some pure Sussex calves from Lordington Farm.

The calves are reared in straw yards and go out to grass in the summer, then come back in, to fatten off, for the farm shop. Most of our cattle are from single suckled calves reared on the Walderton Down, and then are finished at Adsdean. These are mainly Aberdeen Angus (to produce quality meat) crossed with a Simmental (for the size).
